The visionary behind The Broadmoor, Spencer Penrose, built the mountain road and opened the original Cheyenne Mountain Lodge in 1926. Cloud Camp was built in the same footprint as the original Lodge and established as part of The Broadmoor's early commitment to offering guests an experience that went beyond the comforts of a grand hotel. At a time when mountain retreats were the domain of the hardiest adventurers, The Broadmoor brought its trademark hospitality to the heights of Cheyenne Mountain, creating a place where luxury and wilderness met on the summit.
For a century, Cloud Camp has been refined and reimagined while retaining the spirit of adventure and the sense of escape that made it remarkable from the very beginning. The original structures have given way to modern cabins and a fully appointed lodge, but the feeling of standing at the top of something spectacular has never changed.
